[br]Hey guys I too have sparated my shoulder (3 banger) about 6 weeks ago. I was told that having no surgery would likely be more beneficial than having surgery. I have been going to physio for about 4 1/2 weeks now and have been taping it as well as wearing a specialized sport brace (Bauerfeind Omotrain). I have gained about 90% ROM back and the pain has subsided greatly however certain angles will agitate it. It still becomes achy and weary easily and I am now focusing on strengthening. Overall progress seems to be going well, however I have been doing some research on the different operation procedures in case I have to go that route. I have decided to wait 6 months to see how it makes out. Scott, It would be great to hear feedback on your recovery and Alan, have you decided on surgery?[br][br][br]Cheers,[br][br][br]Murray[br]

Hi Alan. Feel free to email me directly @ [email protected] and we can discuss in more detail. I'm not sure where you're at, but I'm in southern California. Went to a specialized clinic and my surgeon has done several of these procedures. I'm still working through the whole deal with the cost of it all, but I have prtetty good insurance and they are covering about 90% of the procedure. I DON'T have any ROM yet. Don't start on that stage until 4 weeks post op. Just in a sling now and doing 'baby exercises' (i.e. letting my arm simply hang in a pendulum form, small shoulder shrugs, and gradually straightening my elbow so it doesn't sieze up). I'm just about 2 weeks since the surgery and showed a buddy of mine the other day. He was actually shocked at how small the incisions were. VERY small one up front and in back and then the cut across the top. Everything I've read and from what I've personally experienced, I would say going arthoscopically is DEFINITELY the way to go. I'm pretty sure in a years time it will practically be impossible to see the scars. Definitely the 2 little ones. My only concern right now is for the bump to go ENTIRELY away. BUT... patience. I understand there is still some swelling and there's scar tissue growing under there. Once I'm able to get back in the gym and do simple muscle building in that area I'm hopeful I'll be good as new [br][br]Anyway... drop me an email if you feel like it. I'd be happy to show you photos as I'm documenting my recovery as I move forward. GOOD LUCK ALAN![br][br]Best,[br][br]Scott[br] [email protected]

Hi Alan. Scott here. I suffered a Grade 5 recently and just had the surgery last Friday. Had an amazing doctor. He used to use Weaver-Dunn but doesn't like screwing into bones so he now does the procedure arthoscopically. I'm in southern california and went to a pretty solid specialist in this field. I'm also INSANELY neurotic and researched the HELL out of of this injury and procedure ad naseum for weeks on end. If you feel like emailing me directly you can reach me at [email protected] Happy to trade info with you. With the procedure I had, I took the bandages off after 48 hours and will be in a sling for 8 weeks. After 4 weeks I begin my PT. I had a HUGE bump (class 5 and all) and was in MAJOR pain up til the surgery, but the bump looks as though it is practically gone now and I'm just taking things REALLY slow and hoping it all develops well. It's a crazy injury and there's SO MUCH info out there, especially with many doctors recommending different surgeries and/or none at all. Happy healing my man and hit me up if you want to chat.[br][br]All the best,[br][br]Scott[br][email protected]

I suffered a grade 3 dislocation of my AC joint in Feb this year, and am now booked in for a Weaver Dunn op two weeks today.[br]I am nervous about it after reading so many stories of it not being successful and causing further problems for people afterwards.[br]Just wondering if any of you have previously had the operation, and if you recommend it or not...[br]Also any advice on my rehab would be great. As in, what i need to help my recovery, and any hints or tips on making life as easy as possible afterwards.[br]I've heard rumours of special pillows, and putting talc under the arm, but thats all really.[br][br]Any help is most welcome.[br][br]Thanks in advance[br][br]Alan
