Hey everyone. I suffered a CLASS 5 separation about a month or so ago. Swollen for a bit then got progressively worse. Researched the HELL out of it and spoke to SEVERAL people all over the world who have suffered Class 3 and higher. I went to a specialist here in L.A. and he no longer does the Weaver-Dunn. He doesn't like screwing into bone as it weakens bone so his procedure was to use 'shoelace' type things to tie down the clavicle back in place. My injury was relatively recent so he told me the torn ligaments will simply scar tissue over back in their oringinal place. We all know ligaments never grow back really but they're at least back where they're supposed to be.[br][br]I'm in a sling for 8 weeks and start PT after 4. My bump was HUGE and painful and appears to be pretty much gone (tough to tell with the swelling). [br][br]Hope everyone is getting good advice and good surgeons to deal with this injury. It SUCKS and there's a lot of conflicting info out there. I was told by SEVERAL people that you can get this surgery done down the road at a later date, BUT... then you usually need to use a cadaver ligament and I think (from speaking to everyone) IF you're going to get the procedure done, get it done sooner rather than later.[br][br]There's a TON of sites online for the rehab exercises. Anyone want to trade stories or links feel free to email me.[br][br]Happy healing![br][br]scott[br][email protected][br]
