I have an arthroscopic Bankart repair scheduled next week. Just discovered this site and wants to hear from others who had similar experience whether it makes sense to go through the procedure. It is a bit late since the surgery has been scheduled, but I can still pull out last minute.

I had four episodes of right shoulder dislocations in past ten years. It first occured when I was 30 years old while in the motion of throwing a light object (500g) hard to the front. There were no large sudden movements that resulted in subsequent events, once every 2-3 years. A reflex at a particular angle seems to cause dislocation. In the last occurence in May, it happened when I was just turning my body waking up in the morning.

Consulted two orthopaedic surgeons with MRI result. Having blunted labrum, detached inferior glenohumeral ligament, and Hill-Sac lesion.

I am not into active sports, other than marathon. Do you think the procedure will be effective in preventing further dislocations? And what else to look out for?
