Thanks for your thoughts Misty. I am not going to have it done!

I do think it is a terrible idea. If she is not in pain, or even if she was, a replacement is not the way to go for someone at that age. i am really shocked a surgeon would even recommend it. the risks far outweigh any advantage.

The accident happened on July 20th. She walks around a bit but that is about all the exercise she gets. I just cannot see her managing the rehab very good at all. Thank you for the reply.

I would be caling another surgeon or shoulder specialist. That is a very serious surgery for a frail elderly woman. How long ago was the fall? Is she active?

My mother recently feel and fractured her shoulder. She is not in pain for the most part. She weighs about 75 pounds and is pretty frail. Memory is an issue. A doctor today recommened shoulder replacement. Frankly I was shocked. I have no idea how she would recover from this. Is this surgery really done on folks like my mom? Thanks in advance for your advice and opinions.
